Eligibility
Organizations may submit only one Letter of Inquiry and corresponding proposal per grant cycle. Common exceptions include proposals submitted by separate departments of large universities. 


RRF funds research that seeks to identify interventions, policies and practices to improve the well-being of older adults and/or their caregivers. Preference is given to projects aimed at generating practical knowledge and guidance that can be used by advocates, policy-makers, providers, and the aging network. Of particular interest are:

  • Interventional trials; translational studies; and health services and policy research
  • Projects that build on the investigator’s past studies
  • Proposals that include robust dissemination plans, if appropriate, to assure that findings reach audiences positioned to act on them

RRF Foundation for Aging focuses on improving the quality of life for older people. In an effort to strengthen the Foundation’s impact, RRF has established Priority Areas. These Priority Areas are specific topics in aging that will be given higher priority within the Foundation’s grantmaking program.

Types of Grants 

  1. Advocay: Achieve enduring social change around issues that affect older Americans
  2. Direct Service: Improve availability and quality of community-based services and supports in seven states
  3. Research: Seek causes and solutions to significant problems for older persons
  4. Professional Education & Training: Increase the competency of professionals and paraprofessionals who serve older people
  5. Organizational Capacity Building: Improve management and governance of non-profit organizations
